Our Mission

The Environmental Justice Coalition is the first grassroots, youth-led movement mobilizing the next generation of activists in the fight for intersectional environmental justice and uplifting BIPOC and marginalized communities through political advocacy, policy development, community organizing, educational initiatives, and content creation. We are creating a pipeline for future environmental justice activists, climate scientists, sustainable policymakers, and empathetic leaders.

Our Vision

We envision a future in which there is fair and equal treatment, equitable distribution of resources, and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexuality, or income level in the development, implementation, and enforcement of sustainable environmental laws, regulations, and policies on the local, state, and federal level.

Note From the Founders

We were both involved in policy, advocacy, and community organizing work at several of the same organizations in the crossroads of civil rights, public health, and algorithmic justice and instantly became close friends within two weeks of meeting. We discovered our shared passion for environmental justice and had both noticed a lack of youth involvement in the movement and lack of education and awareness around environmental issues outside of climate change. After a month of planning and many late night zoom calls, we launched the Environmental Justice Coalition with the goals to mobilize youth in the fight for environmental justice, bring a lens of intersectionality to the field, and uplift marginalized communities most impacted by environmental racism and injustices. We are a proud youth and woman of color-founded and led not for profit organization!
